October Is ADHD Awareness Month

Image

October is ADHD Awareness Month. The mission of ADHD Awareness Month is to educate the public about ADHD by disseminating reliable information based on the evidence of science and peer-reviewed research. ADHD continues through adolescence and into adulthood, affecting approximately 5% of the child population worldwide and 2% to 4% of the adult population worldwide. Comorbid conditions are common and obscure ADHD diagnosis and make it difficult for patients to receive optimal treatment. Child and adult patients with ADHD have unique requirements for symptom management throughout the day and evening. Judicious medication choice entails detailed knowledge of therapeutic response and side effects associated with the available medications, as well as the particular needs of the patient, including any comorbid conditions and all-day symptom management.
